Gluten Free Dairy Free Cake

Tonight I am attending a friend's birthday dinner and opted to make a cake for the occasion. The only issue was that some of the attendees were either lactose intolerant or couldn't have gluten. This made cake choices just that little bit harder. Nonetheless, I was determined to make something everyone could eat and stumbled upon this recipe on ninemsn - http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/food/freshtv/784789/chocolate-cake-gluten-and-dairy-free

How delicious does this look?

I am happy to state that my new oven cooked the cake to perfection. I've now just got to finish decorating it this afternoon and will upload an image for you.

A Very Hungry Caterpillar Baby Shower

Last weekend my sister held a baby shower for bub and I was quite overwhelmed by the love and generousity shown to myself and family-to-be.

My sister had remembered that I loved the very hungry caterpillar story and themed the entire party around this. As you can see from the photos below, the decorations speak for themselves.

My wonderful mum had taken the time to make this nappy cake. I think I will
definitely have to try this for friends in future - what a great idea!

My Bubba Blue cot, sheet set arrived this week and it's finally meant to be sunny in Brisbane this weekend, so I can't wait to wash everything and finally dress the cot. I just heard what I wrote and I think I have officially developed the nesting syndrome!

Ferrari F1 Cake

A friend of mine celebrated his birthday over the weekend and another two of my friends hosted a party for him. I was asked to bring a cake, which is an easy enough task but I decided to challenge myself a bake a cake. My head then went to thinking about all the types of things this friend likes and the answer that kept popping up was F1 racing. I did a bit of research and got an understanding for F1 birthday cakes and how they're made - with fondant, sponge, rice krispies and buttercream. Four different recipes but the final product definitely made it worth it. Here's the process I went through, with the help of my darling husband. More photos to come when my phone decides to email them to me!!!

We even managed a figurine from Halo

On an unrelated note but related food note, I am really excited by a new cafe in my area that is opening soon. I can't wait to have coffee at my doorstep. I am crossing my fingers it will be good coffee!
